[Platt] Ron has nailed it. There's no separation of church and state in Islam.
[Arlo] On the news today a protest rally against the "ground zero mosque", all singing "God Bless America".... I think the clear evidence shows many on the right that would welcome tearing down the walls of church and state in this country, provided the church was their own, of course... To be precise, there is no separation of church and state in Christianity either, such a division is a secular concept derived from enlightenment philosophy, not from the teachings of Christ (just ask the Pope). Apart from this, a great commentary from Keith Olbermann... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZpT2Muxoo0 Ron... if this is a matter only of protesting a place of worship for a religion that does not have a secular allowance for governance, do you think we should eliminate Islamic places of worship entirely from the country? Do you think we should then eliminate ALL churches (Jewish, Christian, Islam, whatever) that attempt to tear down the boundary between church and state? Also, if you haven't seen it, check out the BBC special "The Power of Nightmares" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qk1WkmioQvA) that looks at the similarities between those who seek to wield social power of intellect in both the east and the west.
