I would say the PATTERN is stable if we can recognize it even though all the values or qualities that make it up are constantly changing. Clouds are organic patterns of value which continuously change. They are a perfect metaphor for all patterns because they remind us that all patterns of value are "ever changing" though stable enough for our perception. Or not.
