Adrie, I was raised amongst Seventh Day Adventists, although as something as an outsider because my mom was a girl who just wanted to have fun, not restrict herself with a religion which forbids liquor, dancing and eating meat. She figured she'd change her tune when she got old and had to face her mortality, so that's what she did and today, her house is stuffed with all kinds of old religious literature... (bear with me, I do have a point to make)
My wife masters Arabic and can quote out of her head from the Koran, i know > every phrase literally, let my asure you all > there is no resemblance with Mein Kampf, none what so ever. > One of the magazines lying around her house was an old Liberty Magazine. Liberty was an early Adventist publication that was kind of like a watchdog against erosions of the barriers between Church and State. Sort of along the lines of the ACLU, now that I think about it, but from the religious side. Anyway, this particular issue of Liberty Magazine, had a very interesting article by some scholar of the Koran, which showed all the passages where the faithful Islamic are enjoined from compelling others to believe, or forcing their beliefs upon others. It sounded very wise to me. Basically, if Allah does not convince, man ought not to force. > To be honest, some of it is completely congruent with the bible, and yes > Jesus(Isa) is mentioned, but in a different context. > So yes, i know both, knowledge is the mother of wisdom. > > > I think , personally that the freedom of speech is evolving towards a > social > corrected model, even in country's like America. > > > Well that's always been the case. New Intellectual patterns always have to fight a fierce battle against existing, socially entrenched patterns in order to survive. I'd say the "Freedom" that most Americans enjoy is equivalent of choosing amongst 270 piles of shit channels to dig for their pony.
