I'm delighted to hear that Marsha. It always sends a little frisson of
delight skidding up my spine when I think you might be repeating a recent
joy of my own experiencing.

I've been thinking about re-watching Sophie's Choice since I just picked up
the hefty paperback from the free stack at the library (books you don't have
to check out, just grab and go - since I always seem to be in arrears with
the lady librarians) and I'm greatly impressed with the Styron novel.
However, I'm gonna wait till I finish the book, and then go back and watch
the movie. I remember what a revelation Merylp Streep was in that flick,
back before I knew ahead of time what a wonder she was.

Well... the song always seemed very much a macho thing to me, like John
Henry, facing off against the steam drive and all, but with a sort of
despairing, underlying sadness that for our age, heroic achievers are not
needed or appreciated at all. But that was then, this is now. The modern
refrain seems to be "screw what I owe to the company store"

I know that tune!
