[Dave]
However in all probability the difference that makes the difference between
"animal social patterns" and "human social patterns" is or was the emergence of
human intellect.

[Arlo]
I disagree. Just as there are "amoebas" and "humans" to contrast simple and
complex biological patterns (without resorting to evoking social patterns), I
think the same holds true of simple<--->complex social patterns.

[Dave]
Is "Intellect" an intellectual pattern?

[Arlo]
Unless you define it to mean biological or social behavior, then yes. Although
I am not sure why anyone would.

[Dave]
Or if intellect is a psychophysiological pattern how might that fit?

[Arlo]
This, to me, is a confusing and entirely unnecessary conflation of the levels.
Its like asking "are intellectual patterns social and biological?" In the sense
that higher levels are comprised of the lower, perhaps, but to define
"intellectual activity" as "social-biological activity" really is like doing
all you can to make "intellect" a meaningless term.

"Psychophysiological" simply means a mixed social/biological response.
Psychology is the defined cultural norm. A psychological response is a
culturally-learned response, or a response formed via the assimilation of
culture, deviation is a rejection of the cultural normative impetus.
Physiological is a biological reaction, what worms and amoebas and humans and
germs all do.
