Steve: Pirsig's philosophy actually includes a lot of talk about evolution including biological evolution, so Horse's comments were not at all off topic. Secondly, if someone wanted to talk about a particular area of expertise of mine, rather than try to shut down conversation on the matter I would welcome and encourage it. I would also make my case with the force my arguments rather than try to bully people by claiming authority based on some academic or vocational credentials. The reason you don't know what I do and what most other people do for a living is because few of us expect others to bow to our claims based on arguments from authority.
