Matt: Don't let the grandiosity of some of my labels and pigeon-holes mislead: I think we, as amateurs, can do well within our abilities that which professionals do. Even if our work amounts to sign-posts, so much of the best work out there amounts to sign-posts for further thought. Sign-posts are what static latches are, and that's the best we can hope for anyways. People, like you Arlo, are the closest thing to experts on Pirsig that there are. We don't need to be luminaries on other philosophers or figures, because if our leading goal is to illuminate Pirsig, then that's where our special position gives us the lead on.
