stuck up here in the north country, as i am, mrb, I just catch snippets of the news now and then, and through my own weird sources. One I've learned to appreciate a lot is The Thomas Jefferson Hour, where an impersonator/humanities scholar presents the ideas and thinking of Jefferson in a living and interactive way. This week, it was all about the roots of democracy being watered by the blood of patriots and all, and how if you don't have a fierce uprising every now and then, then you've got a moribund and stagnant static-quo and the wellsprings of Quality are quashed.
So personally, I'm in favor of protests and uprisings and defecating on the powers-that-be. Me and Tom Jefferson baby, screw the Hamiltonian meritocracy!
