Anthony to Andre:
You're thinking of a paragraph in Pirsig's letter dated August 17th 1997 in the McWatt-Pirsig Letters PDF:

Andre:
I am impressed Anthony. You are the best quality nitpicker ever! :-P

Anthony:
Yes, in other words, it's fine to use words to describe the world in which we
live as their use improves our (general) quality of life - as long as it's
remembered the descriptions they create are limited and will always leave
something out; being analogous to a one page Abstract for a one thousand page
book.

Andre:
I am glad you mention this Anthony especially in the context of a discussion
about DQ. That is why it is a referring term and, what I always thought was why
the Zen circle was always open at the top. But I stand corrected on this.

Cheers.
