Why don't you form a committee to isolate all the offending RMP quotes that you
think should not be presented or discussed? If that becomes a MD rule I will
most certainly comply. Do you think you should ban these quote?

[Arlo]
I don't recall saying any quotes should be banned, or anything else for that
matter. So not going to play your game.

But, I think if you genuinely believed that all intellectual patterns should be
'killed', then what are doing wasting your time in a forum dedicated to
intellectual quality, as Pirsig's ideas are intellectual patterns. Should they
be killed? So, kill them and be gone. Must be millions of better places for you
to be than a philosophy forum.

[Pirsig]
"The purpose of mystic meditation is not to remove oneself from experience but
to bring one's self closer to it by eliminating stale, confusing, static,
intellectual attachments of the past."

[Arlo]
Absolutely. But once Pirsig was dome meditating, he built an intellectual
structure. You seem intent on tearing it down, or using Pirsig's own words to
attack Pirsig's own thesis. But again, the fact that you're here only
demonstrates that even to this you pay only insincere lip-service.

[Marsha]
Instead of being a general and free-ranging forum for the discussion of Robert
M. Pirsig's Metaphysics of Quality, it can be a controlled forum for the
philosophical discussion of approved RMP quotes. Maybe you'd like that only
academic philosophers should be permitted to participate?

[Arlo]
This is a telling insertion of "academic". Why did you add this? How about
"maybe you'd like that only philosophers should be permitted to participate?"
Well, we are here to discuss a philosophy, so what's bad about expecting those
who discuss a philosophy from being philosophers? To expect that in forum
talking about an intellectual pattern that people pursue high intellectual
quality? This is strangely tautological, isn't it?

And I think I just wrote that I find some of your comments relating to eastern
philosophies interesting, and that this is an important part of what Pirsig's
ideas are about. Where in any of that did you see "controlled discussion of
approved quotes"?

That last question is rhetorical, as I said, not going to play your games.
