Can a psychopath be a good philosopher?
"Psychopathy (or sociopathy) is a personality trait or disorder characterised
partly by enduring anti-social behavior, a diminished capacity for empathy or
remorse, and poor behavioral controls."
Here's a checklist of the usual "Interpersonal/Affective" traits:
Glibness/superficial charm. Grandiose sense of self-worth. Pathological lying.
Cunning/manipulative. Lack of remorse or guilt. Shallow affect (genuine emotion
is short-lived and egocentric). Callousness; lack of empathy. Failure to accept
responsibility for his or her own actions.
