Hi there I had a look online to get the definition of theophobia - which seemed to consist mainly of idiot comments - and eventually found this at dictionary.com:
morbid fear or hatred of God which is interesting. Why would anyone fear or hate God? It doesn't make sense unless you're one of the religious folk who talk in terms of 'God-fearing', but if this is the case then, by definition, it's those who are religious that are theophobic and not those that are of a non-theistic disposition. If you're an atheist why would you hate or fear something you believe doesn't exist? Doubly irrational!! My own Catholic upbringing posited the idea that it is God's love is central to Catholic beliefs - and I generally found that the only thing to fear and hate were certain priests with an unhealthy interest in young boys! DMB has already made the case that the MOQ is either non-theistic or anti-theistic but I think this generally means that one is against the idea that a supernatural force is responsible for our existence and our happiness. The MOQ replaces this with Quality. And Ant has already pointed out that I, personally, am pragmatic about such things - if something brings good into the world then I'm all for it, otherwise get rid of it. There's far too many problems in the world at the moment to reject what's good just because of an irrational fear or hatred. That would be silly. On a more political note (which Ant also mentioned), what I really want to see is theistic institutions speaking up against the capitalist and fascist institutions that are currently destroying our societies and our planet for their own greed - our own dear Church of England seems to be failing us quite badly in this respect, although, to be fair, there are many members of that Church (including Clergy) whose beliefs appear to be in direct opposition to the position of their leaders. Good for them and I hope they keep up the good work. Western (and some other) theistic institutions wield a lot of power and, given their basic idea that 'God is Love' it would be good if this power was wielded for the many and not for the few!
