Surveying Ron, Ron:

Of course it's all electronically leveled and lasers, nowadays so my metaphor doesn't actually follow but that's because I think in terms of my experience. > John Carl: > > Let me put it this > > way, I can only communicate one on one. Here in this medium, we gotta interpret to the world - and that's a whole 'nother plane. > John: > > but James turned down the presidency of the American > > Philosophy Association when it was founded, because he didn't think > > you could do philosophy with multiple people from multiple situations > > and different symbolic life-stories. > > > > Well he knew you could, it just takes years of work. So if you don't care to communicate > > with me, do like dmb and just skip over and ignore my foolish > > ramblings. > > Ron: > I guess I'm not seeing you care enough to put up a decent fight. > Jc: I care enough to put up an indecent fight, and that counts for something. But if my only judge is Quality, then the question remains, Is Quality a popularity contest? I mean, May Be, I haven't ever thought of it like that, but when Phaedrus asked his class which was better, he went with the consensus. So maybe you're right and I oughta just buckle to the will of the majority, go with the flow. And ignore my own inner voice telling me for myself, what is good and what is not good. Nah... Ron: > > Like I said, I like you but if you want people to take you seriously and > your ideas seriously you are going to have to put more into it. Jc: As far as that goes, Ron. I'm reading, thinking, writing and responding and reading some more. For effort, I don't know what more can be done without getting a divorce and abandoning my family. Ron: > Hey, I use to just go off on emotion and just quarrel thinking I was on to > some good points, but after years of study I recognized I was just doing > sloppy half assed pseudo philosophy. > > Live and learn eh? > > Anyhow, I will stop. > > I knew Marsha played a role in this > Current campaign of yours....heh > > She's probably in your ear every day. > > > Funny you should say that. She is, quite often, in my "ear". She never writes or communicates, (well maybe like twice in the last couple of years) but she's there anyway. Interesting, isn't it. She must be in yours also, eh? Anyway, I agree I haven't really offered much Quality dialogue. Like I said, that seems to be a game that takes two and nobody wants to play with me - commit themselves fully to the process. Most people have busy lives and careers. But I'm certainly willing. Especially the study of American Philosophy - How the MoQ fits in and what those old intellectuals were saying.
