Hi All, Regarding Pirsig's four levels - I have found, what seems to me, the same four level idea in the work of other thinkers and would like to know if there is anybody here that have any ideas/information on this. These two people are Karl Jung and Rudolf Steiner. Unfortunately, I know next to nothing about the vast frameworks that both these people have worked from, but have just noticed what seems to be some correlation. Now Pirsig mentions: 1. physical, material level 2. biological level 3. social level 4. intellectual level I won't go into the details - you've read the book. Steiner mentions: 1. physical level 2. etheric level 3. astral level 4. ego level Jung works with four 'channels' - the correlation breaks a bit down here (he seems to have neglected the physical level and slipped in the spiritual one), but knowing more about it, one might be able to tie it in: 1. biological 2. moral 3. spiritual 4. psychological I would really like to hear from anybody that knows more about these two people's work and have any ideas on how to integrate it with Pirsig's ideas.
