ROGER SUPPLIES A DIFFERENT
ANGLE RATHER THAN MEDIATION

Hey David (& Avid),

Just as a possibile different take, rather than just use the mediation
concept, what do you think of a "branch" concept? You know, where intellect
is like millions of leaves on thousands of twigs of society, off hundreds of
biological branches, off the inorganic trunk.

Again, every analogy has its weaknesses, but the strength of this one to me
is that it shows the increase in dynamic possibility of the higher levels,
yet also shows that they are firmly grounded in a limiting range of
possibilities based on their predecessor. Intellect is restricted in
possibility based on the culture, which depends upon the biological values of
the organism etc. Both John and Avid's recent works have played off this
theme though from slightly different angles. I am reviewing Avid's now more
in depth. (It is quite different than what I am used to reading, and is
proving difficult to absorb, especially while nursing the last week's worth
of dingo bites ;-)).
