Hi Dave

Well I really should be getting to work, you know. Oh, hell with it. Got
all afternoon yet and I feel this is of great value even if it won't pay
my bills! :)

I would suggest anthropocentricity is clouding our normal value
judgments of Universe. When a terrible storm ravages a city, there is
nothing to blame. No fault to find. Yet when it comes to other human
beings and their actions, we always look to credit or blame. Always. We
infer intentionality and seek justice, be it praise or condemnation.

Each and every action is an occurrence of nature. Humans are in no way
separate from nature but ARE nature. As Platt once said and is oft
quoted:, "Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder; beauty IS the eye of
the beholder."

Seeing Universe as value-centered means realizing everything is moral
judgment at some level. Intellectually we seek to impose human values
upon Universe when it is Universe which imposes its value upon us.
Solutions do not lie in seeking credit or blame but in finding balance
as ruthlessly as Universe. Pirsig is very clear on this. I haven't time
now to quote him now... better be going. Thanks for your stimulating
thoughts everyone!

Dan
