A 12-year-old disillusioned young man named Greg sat down at his desk one day
and tried to think up an idea for a science fiction short story. He was a
huge fan of science fiction. But he couldn't think of anything that hadn't
been done before. He sighed and doodled tiredly in his spiral notebook. With
his blue ink pen he drew little cartoon aliens and flying saucers. He tried
to think.
An idea came to him. He wrote: Alien Status Report on the human race.
He looked at what he'd written. He decided to elaborate on this a bit. He
didn't have any better ideas. He stopped doodling and began to write....
Humans are obviously very stupid sentient beings. Flying over their
planet (named, blandly enough, "earth") in our flying saucers, we see that
the landscape has vast, rapidly growing sprawls of urban ugliness typical of
other planets where apes have the highest intellect. This planet has the
distinction of being one of the few ruled by intelligent apes that has not
suffered (yet) major nuclear devastation. This fact alone is surprising when
one analyzes the stupidity and capriciousness inherent in humans.
Humans are basically tribal and no where close to worldwide unity at this
point in their history. The largest current tribe is found in the region
known as china. The most powerful and thriving tribe currently inhabits a
region known as the united states.
Virtually the entire planet revolves around the primitive concept of
money. As yet, very few prominent humans have analyzed the stupidity of this
concept and its potentially tragic consequences. As yet absolutely no steps
have been taken towards one day eliminating this stupid concept. Indeed, on
an individual basis, the overwhelming majority of humans measure their
success on the amount of money they amass in their lifetime.
The vast majority of humans at this point in their history crave sensory
pleasure above all else. Particularly visual entertainment. For creatures
with such short life-spans, it's amazing even to us the hours upon hours of
life they waste staring at ridiculous images on monitors of various sizes
which they call "TV". With the recent introduction of a humorously primitive
computer network known as "The Internet" it is sadly obvious that even more
hours of their short lives will be wasted staring at even more ridiculous
images on monitors of various sizes.
Humans literally assault their senses on a daily basis, particularly the
young humans, with visual images and music intended to briefly stimulate
desired emotions. Their thought patterns are rarely deeply adjusted and
function primarily as containers of primitive emotional impulses. Calculated,
yet rarely varying, eddies of physical and mental distraction abound. Few can
see beyond the patterns.
Humans are selfish and murderous. They are the only species on the planet
that has the distinction of having killed specimens of *every* other single
species on the planet. One of our own has even been butchered at the hands of
humans, when his flying saucer crashed in a region of the united states known
as roswell.
The smartest humans on the planet are doing little to implement real
improvement of their species. We find it appalling, but not at all
surprising, that billions of dollars each year are spent by humans in
developing and consuming new forms of entertainment. They choose to ignore
the fact that this is money that could go toward research for finding cures
for diseases which kill millions each year. And hunger, which kills millions
more.
Whoa. Okay....enough of this fictional format; I'm starting to break
character. Jon (Cntryforce) here now. I know this post is somewhat of a mess;
I just sat here and let it spill out of me. Let me tell you what inspired it.
It happened while I was sitting in traffic the other day. At a red light,
guys were collecting money for a high school baseball team. It truly made me
sick. When one of the guys approached my car carrying is milk jug full of
change, I just glared at him, and he went on to the next car. So many people
are dying every day of diseases which need research money and people want us
to donate to high school baseball.
    Does this bother anyone else?

Jon
