This discussion highlights one of the problems with using Pirsig's MOQ
framework to make moral judgments about difficult public issues:
many/most such issues involve not conflicts between different levels
(e.g., social versus intellectual), but conflicts between different
groups of people.  In these cases, there generally is no "best" answer,
just a question: who do you care about more?
