Hi Roger:

Yes, NonZero definitely goes on my must read list, too. I wasnt familiar
with game theory but now feel I have a good grasp of it after reading Wrights
lucid text. His explanation of new levels arising out old complements the
MoQ. Although he is well grounded in scientific approach to evolution, his
openness to ideas outside the conventional scientific envelope was
surprising, and in my view, heartening.

I dont know about you, but when I read a book of this quality I check off
sentences or paragraphs in the margins that I like or think important for one
reason or another as I come to them. Then, after finishing the book I put it
aside for a month or so, then go back to look at the passages I checked.
Those that still appeal Ill copy into a notebook for possible future reference.
Over the years Ive collected five 3-ring notebooks full of excerpts like this
from numerous sources. The purpose? Just to keep a record of what
interested me in the past, sort of an idea autobiography to amuse me in my
old age.

I also collect letters posted on this site which IMHO are of especially high
quality. With no intention to flatter you inappropriately, many of the letters I
prize are from you. You write intelligently and insightfully with clarity, traits I
greatly admire.

But I see I have much more to read, thanks to your sharing your must read
list. The so called real world is incredibly dull compared to intellectual
quality to be found out there in books recommended by discerning guides.
