Just a couple points before this thread ends. I'm just about done with "The
Holographic Universe" by
Micheal Talbot in which he relates Pribram theories on how the brain works and Bohm
theories in
quantum physics with topics such as mysticism and other "paranormal" experiences. In
the
introduction he relates an observation by Yale surgeon, Dr Bernie Siegal, in
commenting on the
resistance to his own unorthodox views on health:

"[Siegel] asserts that is because people are addicted to thier beliefs. Siegal says
this is why when
you try to change someone's belief they act like an addict. ...We are addicted to our
beliefs and we
do act like addicts when someone tries to wrest from us the powerful opium of our
dogmas."

Based on his review of the "holographic paradigm" of reality Talbot suggests ,like
Pirsig, that ones
beliefs, values, (static patterns of value) can and do have a profound influence on
experience. In
aphoristic terms: "Be careful what you wish for you just might get it." IE. If your
worldview
embodies the aphorism "money is the root of all evil" and you filter your experience
though this
view, over time it is probable that instead of money becoming less evil in your
reality, it becomes
more and more so to the point where it could dominate your reality. Which is just the
opposite of
what you seem to desire. If reality is an integrated, undivide whole which each of
us can and does
influence or shape, most particularly in reguards to our own being, the phase " be
careful what you
think" or be careful what static patterns you hold dear takes on a whole higher level
of meaning.
Why? Because of the high probability those views WILL BE an integral part of your
future reality.

PS: DMB & Roger thanks for staying the mystical course I think I finally get a glimmer
of what
you're talking about. Guess I was still trapped in science, waiting for it to catch
up. It appears
that it nearly has.
For those in a similar position I would recommend this book as a good starting point.
