Greetings all!

The separation of dry, discrete units of information from their watery
(dynamic) origins, has probably been the result of SO thinking. This has lead
to the many irresolvable disputes among philosophers who believe that any
one perspective can encompass everything. Such a position presupposes
illusionary objective standards in a continuously evolving universe.

Take for example evolution, and the current hype surrounding the field of
genetics. A brilliant lecturer in my university argues that genes can only
ever optimise the survival chances of a species once goals have already been
created. Since context is continuously changing, there must be a stage
where goals are not yet defined. In this situation creativity, flexibility
and exploration are just a few of the necessary ingredients to create new
opportunities.

This really got me thinking about ZAAM, and the way how SOM places far to
much emphasis on predictable and measurable patterns of life, ignoring the
value and necessity of creative ones. since the latter cannot fully explain
or predict, it does not match well with SO thinking.
Then again, nature has been evolving for billions of years, creating such a
crucial but fragile balance from which all beings benefit. It is this
overall balance, and flexibility necessary to create such a balance, that
the human mind has not yet achieved. A purely objective rationality,
divorced from deeper motivation has been mankinds major barrier in resolving
conflict and sustaining cooperation.

Thinkers like Pirsig do and have always existed, whether they will have a
positive impact on society, depends on whether such ideas are also beginning
to crystallise in human consciousness as a whole.

Ciao, Gina
