Oh, of course I agree that using the concepts of someone else without any reference to
the source is at least incorrect....
IMO this is not the case of Pirsig. Actually, he recognizes his sources in many
(mainly the Sophists and James), so I don't understand why he had to discard
Heidegger: after all, the reader of Lila and ZAMM is not the same reader of MH's
'being and time' (and indeed this of reaching many people is a great Pirsig's worth).
I entered this thread as I also have found similarities between MH and RMP in the
past, and yesterday, searching among past archives, I saw the thread popped out more
than one time. Like Andrea, I also think Kevin has been a little too aggressive. I
just hope that Kevin and others (Elephant? Struan? 3WD? .....) will take this event as
a confronting occasion between RMP and big MH....
