A myriad of differing views on what constitutes quality threatens to
undermine the MOQ to the extent that its wide acceptance will be
almost impossible to achieve. After participating on this site since its
inception several years ago, I have reluctantly come to that conclusion
although I’m sure others more perceptive than me came to that
conclusion many months ago if indeed not on their first reading of Lila.
Simply put, the MOQ cannot be used successfully as a platform to
change the world.

I have been reading Wilber of late and find some interesting correlations
with this issue. He remarks in several places on the internet that he has
come to the conclusion that everybody is right. Each of us has developed a
fairly consistent, cohesive philosophy. However, our world view is imperfect
and inadequate. Our models are limited in scope or perspective. Just as all
our prior interpretations are lessser than today's (for someone growing at
least), todays is bound to be imperfect too. The quest is to find the
imperfections in our own view.
One potential path to knowledge is not to reject what we know, but to embrace
it and find ways to also embrace what others know and therefore to develop a
broader umbrella of understanding.
Another possible path, it seems to me, is to realize that one interpretation
will ALWAYS be inadequate. Perhaps we should embrace a diversity of views
and interpretations as well as heated discussions to expand each other and
ourselves. I don't mean to sound relativistic, and I am not. It is just that
perhaps the answer is not in a certain destination, maybe it is in the
journey.
And maybe that is why Pirsig leaves us on our own?????
