[Dan] I too like to buy organic. One thing to consider when buying fruit that is grown outside the US is that the use of DDT and other potent pesticides is NOT prohibited in many countries as it is here so watch out. I use raised beds to grow my own vegetables. Its labor intensive but I can start growing earlier and keep growing later in the season. I have several fruit trees in the yard for apples, pears, and plums. I use a mixture of water, garlic, and egg to spray them with and it works as well or better than pesticides. > >Second, bottled water? Forgedaboudit. Shheeesh.) [Dan] Where I live has the highest incidence of MS in the state. Many blame the water. Our water tower looks like it was constructed some time in the early 1700s. So I do buy bottled water, but not in the small bottles. I buy the gallon jugs and then refill them as I need them from the Culligan water purifer at Walmart. > >Third, ahem... buy a motorcycle. [Dan] Yes that's true but boy there are so many idiots out there on the road talking on their cell phones and putting on makeup on their way to work and even reading newspapers that it scares me half to death. A biker I know got side swiped a year ago, broke his leg in 3 places, and suffered road rash over half his body. Now the leg won't heal properly. He's just had a 3rd operation to put electric wires in the bone to promote healing. No fun at all. So be careful out there.
