[Matt] But why is that bad? Tell me what is inherently bad with academic work and I'll show you a person who said that Pirsig is "not saying get rid of academics!" And if there is nothing inherently wrong with it, why make fun of me? Am I holding Pirsig down?
[x] "Matt, First I apologize for making you feel I was belittling you or making fun of you in any way It was not my intent. I was commenting mostly about what you saw as an attack on academics I felt your essays had a defencesive tone and were alittle extreme but as you explain, it was with This intent that you wished to provoke more straightforward answers from Pirsig, Understandable. To the unbeknownst reader this is not readily appearent, I niether wanted to piss in your garden Nor rain on your parade. I read challenging expressive essays and responded in kind, the Comparison part was not meant to be facisious I just do not see Pirsig as presenting A revolution as I stated above. What I meant by the analogy is that Pirsigs Ideas Sound very similar to other philosophies but has a flavor all it's own. I see nothing wrong or inherently bad about academic work, although I do feel it incomplete. I taught graphic arts for a few years and saw first hand what pirsig was speaking of. Perhaps that is why I do not percieve it as an attack.I saw pirsig wanting acadamia to lean more On the tech school level, which I totally aree with, why keep cranking out people with degree's Who do not have the practical skills to get a job and perform well in their field? I hear him Preaching reform not revolution. I feel you read into my response much the same way as you read into Pirsig. Sincerely Matt I meant no direspectful tone. Just challenging your challenging. Yours in the spirit of straightforwardness, -Ron moq_discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/
