Poot,

Been to libraries. Just returned from Europe last week.

Last month, a debate over whether Huck Finn should be in libraries, erupted
locally - great system? Is the government still tracking library records -
great system?

Europe was horrible, no cameras on street corners, police weren't fully
militarized, no strip search at the airports, people walked places, I
witnessed no public aggression, they were too tolerant with not enough
religion, not enough racism, consumerism wasn't as rampant, architecture had
way too much detail and has lasted up to a 1000 years (clearly overbuilt),
not enough pushy assholes telling me how to be, most spoke two languages,
not enough waste, not enough fat people, they didn't seem parochial enough,
no fervent nationalism replete with moronic "patriots", clearly enjoying
life too much. But maybe they knew I was coming and put on their best face
and are probably back to living in holes and caves, eking a subsistence
living, or in slavery, hoping for the glorious chance to come to the States.
Probably a southern State where a person can stretch intellectually and
culturally. Goll dern it!

As far as your government solving anything (then they would be out of a job)
let alone environmental issues, I remember celebrating the first Earth Day
in 1970. I'm sure others celebrating (it's not a celebration now) that day
are in government or are voters, and look at the great progress since then.
Last month Sen. Imhoff argued with Gore about whether global warming was
real - now that's low comedy and good government! Keep the faith brother!
Baby steps.

And get out the vote.

Micah

Hi,

I will ask again.

If democracy isn't a system that you would support, then what is? What is
your brave new idea that is going to save us all. what is your aim by "not
playing the game"?

please enlighten me, being the wretch I am, I cannot see.

Also, do you suppose that tackling a massive abuse of the environment that
is polluting land, air, and water is going to be solved purely on a personal
basis?

Do you think that companies (which are the largest contributors of course)
are going to change , unless they are mandated to by policies made by a
government?

maybe you should go to a foreign country, and get a bit of a reality check
to what other corrupt governments are doing to their citizens.

maybe, take a gander through the history books. heck, that might involve
walking to the library, and using the public library . you'd have to be a
part of the system to use it though.
