to say that our senses of value are influenced by intellect and culture
(necessarily entirely static?) is a very astute understatement. it would seem
to me that, not only is this the case, but consider the case where, under the
influence of these mammoths, an individual infact reverses a particular level
of quality, missing it for another, or mistaking it for some abstracted
reinterpretation. consider cigarette smoking; the intake of a plethora of TOXIC
CHEMICALS! on this point, the worm has us beat... yet, even on this level, we
may observe that this realm of value distinction has fallen away from our
immediate range of conscious review. we can not micromanage our bodies on a
cellular level (early bioquality) if we wish to manage ourselves on any other
higher level. the nature of interplay between static and dynamic quality is
that eventually, a static substrate will be built, or "selected" (darwinian
sense) by the dynamic process in such a way that it has enough
inherent quality to allow new levels and types of dynamics, which lead to new
levels and types of statics, and so on. there are only so many levels on which
we may sustain active participation in value determination. for instance, we
MUST rely on our antibodies to make the correct decisions, because there is no
possible oversight for us to assert on the relevant frequency...
what i am getting at, is the fact that, where ever originaly quality may be
rooted, without the proper perspective being continuously sought, it is easy to
fall very far away from the roots, perhaps convincing oneself that the best
thing to do, despite the history of biocommunity, is to strap a bomb onto
self, and do what one has been convinced to do.
