Arlo, Nice summary of the exchange with Platt...much more valuable than the exchange itself. "Dynamic Quality is not shown in any block [of patterns]. It is in the background. This seems the best way to represent it. It is not only outside the blocks, it pervades them but it goes on where the blocks leave off. R.M. Pirsig (Subjects, Objects, Data and Values, p. 13-14) IMO for Pirsig to say DQ "pervades" patterns at all levels is to say patterns at all levels respond to DQ.
