Hello
While it took me longer to get things going and organized (end of semester, etc) we will be doing our first meeting for the virtual morphometrics meet-up on this coming Wednesday, April 29th at 11:30 EST. This first meeting will serve as an introduction for people (who want to introduce themselves) and some discussion and trouble-shooting for people (in particular a group of individuals at the University of Iceland) who are trying to understand the intricacies of pairwise() in geomorph and how to set up appropriate null models given particular questions an individual is trying to address. While I have not one of the developers of geomorph, I have been doing a deep dive into the underlying code for relevant functions, and I know who to ask for my few remaining pedantic questions. We will also discuss topics for future weeks (Murat Maga and members of his group are willing to do an introduction to 3D slicer). If you would like to lead or facilitate a session (journal club, discuss something specific). This is meant to be interactive and to meet other researchers in the field (and to learn some cool stuff). The plan is to hold it to Zoom. So if you could email me directly (see below). Please DO NOT reply on morphomet. I will create a vetted (only vetted to make sure we can minimize being zoom bombed, all interested people are welcome!) email list for sending out the zoom invite. Please use the subject header "virtual morphometrics meetup" (I will be automating the collection of emails).
