My name is Louise Waßermann. I`m writing my diploma thesis at the
university of Leipzig (Germany) at the instituite of biology (AG
spezielle Zoologie). I`m investigating the population structure of
Microtus arvalis in Germany by sequencing a part of the cytb and
the control region. I also want to use geometric morphometrics. I
already started with taking pictures from the mandible and from
the second molar of the mandible. I have used the program tpsDig2
to set 15 landmarks on the mandible. But I don`t know what to do
next. I have downloaded all the tps programs. I want to generate
the distributions of centroid sizes among the studied populations
(which is no problem) and I want to create scatterplots of the
first two canonical variate scores calculated from landmarks and it
would be good to show the results by deformation grids. The problem
is that I do not know how to do this canonical variate analysis.
Which statistical tests should I use before? Which values do I use
for the canonical variate analysis. I have bought me the book
"Geometric Morphometrics for biologists", A Primer but it just
gives the theoretical background. I need somthing practical. Nobody
in this institute has done geometric morphometrics before. I would
be happy to get some practical hints.

 Thanks Louise
