Dear all, First, thanks for all your replies and very constructive comments. I think that there is a great problem when trying to use some of the English terms of GM in another languages' context. There was some time ago another discussion proposed by Pablo Jarrin, regarding this same issue, but with the terms 'shape' and 'form'...
I don't find this translation thing as something that can be overcommed easily. Particularly because most publications and related bibliography are, indeed, in English, and most probably will continue being so!! But it is necessary to get to some sort of consensus, so that most people knows what everybody else is talking about! That being said, let me say this last thing. According to the Real Academia de la Lengua Española, any foreign word that has an Spanish equivalent word should be used in its Spanish form (i.e. no anglisisms). Being it so, I would suggest the use of Spanish terms whenever possible, trying to find the most accurate and precise ones. To me, Cecilia's and Fede's translations are the best so far, and it would be nice if anyone who is working in Spanish with GM could use them. Just to sum it up: partial warps = deformaciones parciales shear / shearing = cizalladura / cizallamiento thin-plate spline = flexión de placa delgada (if it refers to the method, then "función/método de placa delgada") Again, thanks for your interest in this issue.
