I used a Mitutoyo digital caliper to input measurements directly to MS
Excel. It worked flawlessly with both Windows XP and Mac OS 10.3.9. I
have not tried it on newer versions of OS.

Subject: question re. digital calipers and input tools

Hello,
I am interested in buying some digital calipers with a USB input tool
(to enter the measurements directly from the caliper to a computer). The
only option I am coming up with is the Mitutoyo. Listings I find (e.g.
paleo-tech) say this system cannot be run natively on a Mac (I am
running OSX 10.6 on a MacBook). Reports seem conflicting about whether
this is a USB hardware or OS problem, but regardless I would rather not
run through Bootcamp. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas for a
USB input tool that works smoothly with a Mac?
I see this question has come up (unresolved for Macs) some years ago,
but I am hoping there might be some new possibilities out there. Many
thanks in advance for any help.
best,
Kathryn
