Hm-m-m. This might require a bit of explanation. Despite the title, and
despite my research interests, this program is not about the sort of
morphometrics discussed on this list. Actually, the title was agreed
over my objections which I raised because of the potential for
confusion. It's supposed to be a play on words symbolizing the
combination of miscellaneous observations on a variety of natural forms
using the formalisms of poetic meter. Basically, the program will
consist of a pair of poets (Roberrt Crawford and Sarah Maguire) and a
pair of scientists (Rona Ramsey and myself) presenting the results of a
pair of poet-scientist interactions (Crawford-Ramsey, Magurie-MacLeod)
we've been conducting over the past year with the reading of poems
resulting from the interactions, reactions to the poems by the
scientists, and a general discussion of arts-science issues. If any
London morphmet members wish to attend you'll be more than welcome, but
please don't come expecting a lecture on applied geometry.
