Ann, I have never given "grades" for homework or practice. The kids get feedback. A lot of times we discuss the practice in class and my answer to "do I mark it wrong?" Is do you understand what you did wrong and if not then ask me a question. My students do have priviledges taken away for repeated uncompleted work(such as walking laps around the playground at recess or silent lunch). But a zero for not turning in work does not show where the student is on the learning continuium, just that they don't like to do the work. I do not and have never had a huge problem with uncompleted work(always one or two repeat offenders) my students work very hard no matter what. I use this is practice for the big game analogy a lot and they like that. I teach 5th grade. Darcy NC 5th
