Ellin Keene has a fairly new book of assessments by Shell Educational
Publishing called assessing comprehension Thinking Strategies. It has oral
assessments, written assessments, rubrics and passages for grades one through
eight. These passages assess all 7 thinking strategies as well as thinking
aloud, setting a purpose and text structure. I have just started using
them, but I like them so far. Linda Wallis

  Hi -

I guess I have a few separate questions for the group concerning reading
assessment. First, how do you assess reading comprehension and your
students'
strategy use?

My school is currently taking a look at how we assess overall reading
comprehension and the students' use of the comprehension strategies. We have
been
charged with creating common assessments that will given by each Lang. Arts
teacher (to each student) across the grade level. Therefore, my second
question is: does anyone's school have anything like this?
