Hi Mary Lou,
My school started with AR.  As the primary technology support (you know, techie 
teacher on staff) when I stopped supporting and using the program it became an 
add-on for a few interested teachers and the rest dropped it. I guess that was 
lucky for me.  If I were to try to convince others to stop using it I would use 
the research that Gina posted and I would document the student behaviors that 
are counter to good reading skills. I have no problem with teachers using it to 
supplement their own programs, but I do have a problem with school and district 
mandates to use AR.
