Thanks Ginger In our district, it has become (thankfully) a big deal for staff development to be on going and school based. I need to show that I am providing ongoing support while the administrators provide some ongoing accountability. Next year, the district is providing all 36 elementary schools with nonfiction texts in various levels related to our science and social studies units. I am considering some think-alongs with nonfiction...not as easy or thought-provoking as some fiction but since content area reading is a k-12 focus for the next two years, I need to help my staff learn to use it effectively. Thanks for your suggestions, Ginger! Jennifer In a message dated 6/22/2007 5:54:44 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:
Probably a follow up could also be deep discussion about the importance of the modeling component in the gradual release model. Hashing out timing- how long do you model, how do you know they are ready to join you in an interactive think aloud, etc. Great things to think about Jennifer. Thanks for asking.
