Theres been some discussion on the MOT2 listserv about assessment. Later in Chapter 5 of MOT2, Ellin describes using the Major Point Interview for Readers" as a means of gathering baseline data (pg 124). Doing a little searching, I see that we have this resource readily available in two locations. Number one, for free, you can download just the "interview" on the readinglady website: http://estore.seppub.com/estore/product/10404 It comes complete with sample questions for each strategy as well as a rubric for scoring the responses. Also, Ellin herself has written a book called "Assessing Comprehension Thinking Strategies" and you can download sample pages of this book at the publisher's website: http://estore.seppub.com/estore/product/10404
Certainly the rubrics that come with these resources could be translated into grades, I would think??
