Unfortunately I have to agree Lori. I was hired a week after school
started in September, to teach a 2/3 split with 28 students (this was
pre-mulitage when the teacher was expected to assign and then dance to the
other side of
the room). I had never taught one grade level much less learn two
curriculums. The students for the class were chosen by the second and third
grade
teachers. Do you think they were going to give me their academically oriented
students? I also had 3 emotionally impaired mainstreamed students in the
morning, and 4 learning disabled students mainstreamed in the afternoon.
But like others have said, I learned quickly and I think it made me a much
better teacher on reflection.
