I like to start with Aunt Chip and the Great Triple Creek Dam Affair. It is by
Patricia Polacco. She tells the story of a town that forgot what books were
really for. They use them for foot stools, door stops, a dam, and all sorts of
other things. All they want to do is to sit around and watch TV. One little
boy and a little old lady eventually change all that. It provokes some great
discussions!
