This is a discussion we have gone round and round with in our district. The
new version of the DRA bridges or scaffolds early written responses, so that
I believe children coming up through this system will be better prepared for
written response. Our purpose for using the DRA2 is in part to identify
children who are at grade level. I believe that children at grade level
should be expected to write their own answers. Children on IEP's are tested
under modifications as noted in their IEP.
