Jennifer, I am doing the same thing you are and I too am finding it difficult to assess. I would appreciate any help I can get before I go out and attempt to "reinvent the wheel." Kay in AZ
BTW My kids love looking for new words. They are so proud of the words they are learning and using. I started using the lessons in Nancy Akhavan's (sp???) book that somebody on this list recommended over the summer and love it...but I am struggling with assessing student vocabulary growth in order to know if the lessons are working. Any one have some rubrics or other ideas for assessing vocab growth? Send to me off list so we can stay on topic...
