A great source for some research is through jim grant and the sde. The website
is sde.com

I looped with 2 group of kids for 3 years (k-2) and also (1-3) I have also
looped or had multiage classes for 2 years. It was awesome and rewarding for
both the students and the teacher. I happen to be the only one in my school
looping now I am teaching a multiage class. It is also very rewarding. Because
the first day of school is day 186 rather than the first day of school. Of
course you go through routines again but you get to much deeper thinking sooner
because you know the base the children had.
