Hello everyone,
We are excited to introduce a new feature that will help us stay up-to-date
on the latest professional books. Through a partnership with Stenhouse
Publishers ("Strategies That Work", "Reading with Meaning", et al.), we will
be making a limited number of free copies of new Stenhouse books available
for list members who would like to write reviews and post them for
discussion on the list.
Here's how the "Mosaic Professional Book Review Teams" program will work:
* About a week before the sign-up, we will post an announcement, including
the titles that will be available.
* When the sign up form is ready, an announcement with the URL and
instructions will be sent out to the list. This form will be available for
about a week so that everyone will have a chance to apply.
* The review team will be selected from those that apply. Only a few people
will be selected to do reviews of each book.
* Shortly thereafter the selected reviewers will receive an e-mail from the
Mosaic leadership team with details and next steps.
* Reviews will be posted to the list over a period of time allowing for
discussion. Reviews will be a reflective, "conversational", 3-6 paragraph
post to the list
As we get information on new titles of interest from Stenhouse, the process
will begin again and a new set of reviewers will be selected.
There are two selected titles for our winter review teams and the
application URL will be announced to the list on Monday, January 21. We
invite you to take a look at the titles below that will be used for our
winter review program:
1. "Test Talk: Integrating Test Preparation into Reading Workshop" by
Glennon Doyle Melton and Amy H. Greene http://www.stenhouse.com/0461.asp.
2. "Less is More: Teaching Literature with Short Texts - Grades 6-12" by
Kimberly Hill Campbell http://www.stenhouse.com/0710.asp.
We hope you are looking forward to this experience as much as we are. As
with any new endeavor, we expect there will be refinements along the way. We
invite your feedback and collaboration on how this new feature can best meet
your needs.
Best,
The Mosaic Leadership Team
