Laurie, This is probably late, but I'm very new to Book Clubs also. So far, so good. I have a very "talkative" class but the one thing that is working for me so far is giving them a rubric so that they can grade themselves as a group. It asks questions such as "was your group prepared?' or "did everyone stay on topic" etc. They then grade their group on a 1-3 grading scale. At this point, I'm telling them that I want their honest answer and that no matter how they score themselves, it won't hurt their grade. It's a way for me to see where I need to be to better help the groups. Like I said...so far so good. Good Luck.
