Laurie,
This is probably late, but I'm very new to Book Clubs also. So far, so
good. I have a very "talkative" class but the one thing that is working for
me
so far is giving them a rubric so that they can grade themselves as a group.
It asks questions such as "was your group prepared?' or "did everyone stay on
topic" etc. They then grade their group on a 1-3 grading scale. At this
point, I'm telling them that I want their honest answer and that no matter how
they score themselves, it won't hurt their grade. It's a way for me to see
where I need to be to better help the groups. Like I said...so far so good.
Good Luck.
