Kathy,

At NCTE this year I did a follow up day with folks from Columbia and 
Reading/Writing Project.  They recommended that grade level teams consider 
dividing up a nice, deep pile of novels every summer and assuming a shared 
responsibility for getting to know their literature more deeply.  Thought that 
was a dandy idea.
