Hi Jen - I think one of the most "organic" things to do which really ups the interest is to use existing stories and rewriting them to be a readers' theater presentation. In first grade and part of second grade, they'd really need to be done in a shared writing setting, but small groups could do it after enough modeling in second and third grades. There's more ownership and knowing from the inside out. Of course, it's rare for students not be interested in readers theater, I think. Bev
