Bev, I read the Daily Five and loved it. However, I do a reader's and writer's workshop so I don't use a complete Daily Five. I mainly use the lessons on management for my reader's workshop...those lessons have worked wonders in "training" my students on what the expectations are during reader's workshop and why it's important! The kids really get it after all the lessons on read to self, read to someone, choosing good-fit books, etc.

The only people I've directly talked to teach primary grades. To me, it seems a bit "dis-jointed" (I can't quite figure out how to say that it doesn't accommodate lengthy enough engagement periods..??) for grades that workshops alone really seem to fit the bill. Do any of you have any guidance for me? Thanks.
