Here's a link I just found.  I've had the same questions as you, so I'm busy
researching.  It sounds like coupling QAR with strategic instruction helps
with standardized testing.  I'm all for doing whatever works, as long as I
can stick to my belief system!

Nicole or anyone using QAR,
I've heard a lot about QAR and have tried to incorporate it into my class
but haven't been successful with it.  I explain to my kids what the types of
questions are and have them identify the questions, but where do you go from
there?  What other activities can and should be done with QAR?
