I teach third grade, and am puzzled why we don't spend more time on things like this, as opposed to phonics rules.? My school has a tree painted in our first floor landing. We are focusing on prefixes, suffixes, and latin and greek roots. 3rd-5th grade clasroms add leaves to the tree that come from the focused root. We are looking to expand this project and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Thanks. I am new to this group and this is my first question.
